REPUBLICAN PARTYThe Republican Party is an American party. It is commonly known as the GOP which stands for 'Grand Old Party'. This party is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the US, the other party is the Democratic Party. The Republican Party dominated politics nationally from 1860 to 1932. There have been 18 Republican presidents so far in history, the oldest being Abraham Lincoln serving from 1861 to 1865 and the newest being George W. Bush serving from 2001 to 2009. Currently the party's platform is being based upon the American Conservatism while the Democratic Party endorses the liberal policies. It is not that the Republican Party is rejecting the idea of the liberal policies, considering it's American Conservatism is based upon the classical liberalism. In 2012, the Republican Party held the majority of seats in the United States House of Representatives but have a minority of seats in the federal Senate. This party currently holds the majority of governorship's as well as the majority of state legislatures. Reince PriebusReince Priebus is 41 and was born in Dover, New Jersey U.S. Reince Priebus is also the United States 65th Republican Party Chairman. Priebus is a German and Greek descent, at the age of 16, he started volunteering for several political campaigns in school. After he graduated from high-school, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 2001 to 2009. He has graduated the University of Miami with a J.D. degree in cum laude after serving as the President of the Student Bar Association. Through all seven rounds of voting that happened during the election in 2011, he remained at the top of the charts through the entire election. On January 14th after all the voting had finished and Priebus was announced the new chairman for the Republican National Committee, he thanked the outgoing chairman Michael Steele for his leadership that he gave Priebus for two years.
